During the Spring Festival adults give childrens red pockets, and we say Kung Hei Fat Choi. On that day we also make dumplings to eat. After we eat dumplings we sit down to watch the gala.

this sentence is better to make it as:春节的时候，大人给儿童红包，我们说恭喜发财 (you don't need to use 和here as the English habit)
